Tajik Foreign Minister receives EU Special Envoy for Afghanistan

The interlocutors discussed in detail important issues related to the current security situation in the neighbouring country.

On November 28, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin held talks with European Union Special Envoy for Afghanistan Tomas Niklasson. The interlocutors discussed in detail key issues on the bilateral agenda, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The officials discussed important issues related to the current security situation in Afghanistan. They exchanged views on further cooperation in countering international terrorism, extremism and cross-border organized crime.

The interlocutors considered deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Union in such priority areas as the political, economic and the humanitarian sector, as well as expanding regional cooperation.

As was reported, the President of Tajikistan had discussed with his French counterpart the current situation in Afghanistan and the possibilities for supporting the process of achieving peace and stability in the neighbouring state.
