Tajikistan and EU discuss joint energy and water agreements

The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in promising areas.

On November 18, Minister of Energy of Tajikistan Daler Juma discussed two Tajikistan-EU agreements with Deputy Director-General for International Cooperation and Development (DG INTPA) Marjeta Jager in the framework of the EU-Central Asia Connectivity Conference: Global Gateway. The parties also discussed expansion of bilateral partnerships, the Khovar News Agency reported.

“The two agreements being discussed today are to be implemented in the energy and water sectors. The first agreement aims to provide technical assistance, the Republic of Tajikistan is implementing consistent reforms in the energy sector. The amount of technical assistance is 15 million euros. The second agreement worth 14 million euros will be implemented in the water sector,” the Tajik Minister said.

Juma added that these agreements are of national and regional significance, as they will help the Republic of Tajikistan promote mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries of the world.
