On November 16, FFT First Vice-President Khurshed Mirzo met with RFU Secretary General Maxim Mitrofanov. The parties discussed further ways to promote mutually beneficial partnerships between the two national federations and agreed to hold friendly matches between the national teams of the two states. In this context, the Russian side noted its intention to deepen cooperation with the Football Federation of Tajikistan and highly evaluated the development of football in the country in recent years.
On November 17, the national teams of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation have held a friendly match at the Central Stadium of Dushanbe at 20:00. This is the first match between the national teams.
