Bishkek calls on ICRC to step up assistance in repatriation of citizens from Syria

The talks focused on assistance to the conflict-affected residents of Batken Region.

On November 15, Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Imankulov met with Head of the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Kyrgyzstan (ICRC) Carlos Batallas to discuss the repatriation of Kyrgyz citizens from Syria and assistance to the residents of Batken Region affected by the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

Imankulov reported on the measures taken by the Kyrgyz Republic to repatriate Kyrgyz citizens from the Syrian camps and provide them with psychological, social and medical assistance, as well as facilitate their integration into society.

The Kyrgyz side called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to step up humanitarian and technical assistance.

Carlos Batallas assured that the Mission will continue to provide humanitarian and technical assistance to government agencies and repatriates to facilitate their social adaptation and integration into society.
