On November 15, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev launched the construction project of a plant that will manufacture cars of the Chinese car brands Changan, Chery and Haval during his working trip to the Southern Capital, the press office of Akorda reported.
The concept of the project and the layout of the future enterprise were presented to the President. The plant will manufacture cars of the popular brands using the small node assembly method. It is to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2024. The production area will occupy over 100 hectares; cars of the three brands will be manufactured in separate welding and assembly departments.
After the plant reaches its planned capacity, it will manufacture more than 90,000 cars a year. Investments will amount to about 100 billion tenge. The plant, which will be built at the Astana Motors Concern, will create 2,200 jobs.
Talking to the local employees, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said this project, along with others, was on the agenda of the talks with President Xi Jinping during his visit to Kazakhstan this year. The result is obvious, the project has entered its practical phase, the President said.
