Tokayev proposes creating common scientific field among universities in Turkic states

The Kazakh leader noted that students should study the languages, culture and history of the fraternal peoples.

On November 11, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev delivered a speech at the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand focusing on communication on scientific and academic platforms as one of the important areas of cooperation within the Organisation, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Kazakh leader proposed improving academic efficiency and building bridges for intercultural dialogue among students. He also urged to create a common academic space for higher educational institutions in the Turkic states. The President emphasised that creating a unified university framework in 2023, which should give students an opportunity to study languages, culture and history of the fraternal peoples, remains relevant.

The Kazakh leader said the special emphasis should be placed on research projects on the spiritual sources of the Turkic states. In this context, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev informed that the archaeological expedition of the Turkic Academy discovered a unique complex of Kutluk Khagan in Mongolia, which gave life to the Turkic Khaganate.

The President noted that the scientists found an ancient written monument with the word “Turk” and proposed developing a roadmap for the substantive studies of the written heritage of the Turkic peoples.
