Tokayev meets with Shell top managers

The President awarded the Shell CEO with the Order of Dostyk II Degree for his significant contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry.

On November 9, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a business meeting with Shell CEO Ben van Beurden and Director Integrated Gas, Renewables and Energy Solutions Wael Sawan. The interlocutors discussed the current aspects of interaction, the press office of Akorda reported.

The talks focused on the current state and prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas sector. The parties discussed further development of the Karachaganak and Kashagan fields.

The Kazakh leader thanked Ben van Beurden, who will soon leave the group, for his profound contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s energy sector. In this context, the President wished fruitful work to Wael Sawan, who will succeed Ben van Beurden as Shell CEO.

The President expressed belief that the new director will focus his diligent efforts on the prospective expansion of the geography of mutually beneficial cooperation with Kazakhstan. Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev awarded Ben van Beurden with the Order of Dostyk II Degree for his huge contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry.
