President of Kazakhstan visits Kaspiy desalination plant

The President of Kazakhstan highly evaluated the role of the enterprise in providing clean water to the region.

On November 7, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev visited the production department of the Kaspiy desalination plant during his working visit to Mangistau Region. The Kazakh leader was informed about the progress of the implementation of the important project aimed at doubling the plant capacity, the press office of Akorda reported.

It was noted that the inadequate production capacity of the desalination plant that currently produces 20,000 cubic metres of ready-to-use water per day necessitated launching the project.

The local officials informed that currently the settlements of two administrative divisions are most affected by clean water shortages. Moreover, the annual population growth and augmentation of tourism infrastructure on the Caspian Sea coast add urgency to the need to increase the plant capacity to 40,000 cubic metres.

After inspecting the activities of the enterprise, the President highly evaluated its contribution to addressing the water supply problem in the region. He expressed belief that the plant modernisation project will be implemented in strict compliance with technical regulations.
