Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov receives Russia’s high state award

The state award was presented to recognise the great personal contribution to strengthening strategic partnerships between the two countries.

Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The interlocutors discussed key aspects of cooperation that is successfully developing today in the widest range of areas, the Turkmenistan: Today News Agency reported.

The Russian leader noted that high results have been achieved in the humanitarian and economic spheres in previous years, and this dynamics is not slowing down after the new president, Serdar Berdimuhamedov is elected, with whom good personal relations have been established, and interstate ties are developing very actively. Putin also emphasised the huge contribution made by Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to promote bilateral interstate relations.

In this regard, the leader of Russia announced the decision to award the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan with the state award of Russia – the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, IV degree, emphasising that this high award is fully consistent with the contribution made to promote interstate relations.

The Speaker of the Halk Maslahaty expressed gratitude, adding that interaction between the two peoples has always been founded on friendship and good neighbourliness. Berdimuhamedov also noted that, thanks to bilateral efforts, effective steps have been taken to strengthen ties in foreign policy, trade and economic cooperation and humanitarian contacts.
