On November 3, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev sent a telegram of condolences to the close relatives of the workers of the Lenin mine in Shakhtinsk, Karaganda Region, who were killed and injured in a methane explosion, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.
The President offered deep condolences to the families of the miners killed in the mining accident. It occurred at the mine of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC. The President wished a speedy recovery to all the survivors and tasked the Cabinet of Ministers and the administration of the region to urgently find the causes of the accident. He instructed to provide the injured miners and the families who suffered losses with necessary assistance.
As was reported, late at night on November 3, methane leaks erupted suddenly while drilling gas drainage wells and a methane explosion killed five workers and injured another four.
A government commission headed by Minister of Emergency Situations Yuri Ilyin has arrived at the accident scene. Law enforcement agencies of the region have opened a criminal case on violation of safety rules and regulations on mine and construction sites.
