Expansion of Germany’s economic presence in Kyrgyzstan discussed in Berlin

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the current situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border and in the region.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Federal Republic of Germany Omurbek Tekebaev met with Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia at the German Federal Foreign Office Matthias Lüttenberg to discuss the prospects for promoting Kyrgyz-German relations. The meeting took place in Berlin, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The diplomats also considered expanding Germany’s economic presence in Kyrgyzstan.

An exchange of views on the development of the international situation, including the situation in Central Asia, and integration processes in the region took place.

Omurbek Tekebaev informed the German diplomat about the progress of repair and restoration works in Batken Region after the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border in September this year.

The authorities of Kyrgyzstan allocated 3 billion soms for repair and restoration works in Batken and Osh Regions.

The funds will be used to repair, reconstruct and build military and civilian infrastructures, including the construction and repair of social facilities.
