Kyrgyzstan urges to reduce border checks within CIS

Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan focused on revitalising business contacts among the CIS Member States.

On October 28, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov took part in a regular meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government. The participants discussed issues on the agenda and adopted more than 20 documents, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Government of Kyrgyzstan said the CIS Member States should boost trade to reduce dependence on imports from third countries.

“We will be able to reduce dependence of the CIS economies on imported components only through the implementation of joint innovation and investment projects and joint efforts. First of all, this will require to fully tap the potential of the Agreement on a free-trade zone in the CIS and ease the flows of goods and investment, Japarov emphasised.

He said the CIS Member States should revise the restrictions on food exports and reduce various barriers and border checks.

Akylbek Japarov raised migration issues within the CIS at the meeting.
