Smailov urges to expedite removal of barriers within EAEU

The Kazakh politician proposed adjusting the functioning principles of the national public procurement regime.

On October 21, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov addressed an in-person expanded meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in in Yerevan. In his speech, Smailov put forward some constructive proposals, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of addressing the issues involved in the functioning of national public procurement regimes in the EAEU Member States. He noted that the subjects encounter technical, technological and geographical barriers if they wish to participate in public procurement of partner countries.

The Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that the Unified Regulations that set forth the general requirements for the release of goods were put into force in 2020. However, over the past two years, these regulations have been amended and complimented more than once. The Prime Minister suggested that additional regulations are introduced bypassing the approved Regulations. In this regard, Smailov proposed adjusting the provisions on the functioning of the public procurement national regime.

The Prime Minister called on the EAEU Member States to expedite the adoption of a uniform document for a transport unit and the launch of the system of electronic registration certificates.
