Bangladesh intends to open embassy in Kyrgyzstan

The parties discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubayev met with his counterpart from Bangladesh Abdul Momen in Astana to discuss key aspects of bilateral cooperation in various areas, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The interlocutors considered setting up joint ventures in the IT, textile and clothing industries. They also focused on promoting cooperation in tourism and establishing inter-parliamentary relations.

Noting that Kyrgyzstan has the GSP+ status that grants preferential tariff treatment to over 6,000 export items to the EU countries, the Kyrgyz Minister called on the Bangladeshi side to consider using the benefits of the GSP+ status.

Momen noted that Bangladesh is ready to further cooperate with Kyrgyzstan and proposed opening diplomatic missions in the two countries.

The Kyrgyz side thanked Bangladesh for supporting its membership in the UN Human Rights Council for 2023-2025.
