Japarov calls on counterparts from CIS to expand ties in migration and culture

The decision to designate Kyrgyzstan as the CIS Chair in 2023 was adopted at the CIS Summit.

On October 14, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov delivered a speech at the meeting of the heads of state from the CIS Member States, focusing on the priorities of Kyrgyzstan’s CIS Chairmanship in 2023. The current CIS Summit is taking place in Astana. The current CIS Chairmanship is held by Kazakhstan, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The President emphasised the importance of such principles as respect for territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders. This is one of the essential agreements, which is the foundation of contemporary relations.

Japarov said the Kyrgyz side would invariably focus on strengthening good neighbourly and trusting relations among the CIS Member States based on respect for each other’s interests while holding the CIS Chairmanship.

The Kyrgyz side called on the CIS Member States to strengthen ties in a number of areas, including transport, communications, migration policy, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the implementation of international initiatives and interstate programmes.
