Uzbekistan’s energy sector starts preparations for autumn and winter months

The existing problems and their solutions were discussed at a meeting with the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan.

On October 10, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov held a meeting on the problems of the organisations and joint-stock companies in preparation for the autumn and winter months at, the press office of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan reports.

The agenda focused on monitoring energy supplies to the population and social facilities, setting up the permanent headquarters that would monitor energy supplies and coordinating the dispatch services at energy facilities by the dispatch centre at the Ministry of Energy.

The Minister criticized the organisations for their low performance indicators. For example, insufficient measures are taken to identify consumers who illegally use electricity and gas, and the performance indicators of oil and gas enterprises have decreased. Sharp gas pressure drops in the cold season in remote areas, the supply of bad quality coal to the population and electricity supply interruptions have been reported.

To provide the population with energy resources through the cold season, it is planned to supply about 30.6 billion cubic metres of gas to consumers, prepare gas filling stations and special vehicles for transporting liquefied gas cylinders and additionally supply 12,700 gas cylinders to consumers by the end of the year.

The instructions were given to supply high quality coal to the population and provide 882,000 tonnes of solid fuel by the end of 2022.

11 electrical substations will be modernised to increase their capacity. 10.938 billion kilowatt hours will be supplied to the population this winter.
