Tokayev attends informal forum of CIS leaders

This year, the Republic of Kazakhstan chairs the Commonwealth of Independent States.

On October 7, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev represented his country at an informal meeting of the leaders from the Commonwealth of Independent States in the northern capital of Russia – St. Petersburg, the press office of Akorda reported.

The heads of state from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and the prime Minister of Armenia took part in the informal meeting on the banks of the Neva River.

A joint discussion of the priority agenda for the areas of activity on the CIS platform took place during the business section of the international forum. The participants considered the prospects for further building up constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation in the interests of all Member States.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev congratulated President Vladimir Putin, who was celebrating his jubilee on the day of the meeting. The President of Kazakhstan highly evaluated the contribution of the Russian leader to strengthening strategic partnerships between Kazakhstan and Russia.

The leaders from the CIS Member States will gather again soon in Astana to take part in a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State. This year, the Republic of Kazakhstan chairs the Commonwealth of Independent States.
