Kyrgyzstan and World Bank sign project agreements in two spheres

Axel van Trotsenburg noted that the World Bank is ready to closely cooperate with Kyrgyz state agencies.

On October 5, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov met with World Bank Managing Director of Operations Axel van Trotsenburg. The interlocutors discussed the prospects of bilateral partnerships for the next few years, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

Noting the 30th anniversary of cooperation, Japarov expressed firm belief that close and fruitful collaboration with the World Bank would continue.

The President said the current priority tasks include the integrated economic development of the regions of Kyrgyzstan, particularly Batken Region.

Given the significant expertise and expert potential of the World Bank, Japarov paid attention to such areas of cooperation as energy, including renewable energy, transport, agricultural industry, tourism and private sector support.

Minister of Finance Almaz Baketaev and World Bank’s Regional Director for the Central Asia region Tatiana Proskuryakova attended the meeting. They signed agreements on the implementation of energy and social development projects.
