Kazakhstan to expand cooperation with foreign companies in nuclear science

The top managers of foreign research organisations expressed their intention to build up mutually beneficial partnerships with the Kazakh side.

On September 30, President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held talks with Executive Officer of Chiyoda Technol Corporation Ataru Inoue, a leading researcher at the Institut Laue–Langevin Valery Nesvizhevsky and Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Grigory Trubnikov. Discussing the prospects for promoting nuclear science of Kazakhstan, the guests expressed their interest in close partnerships with their Kazakh colleagues in this sphere, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.

“Our country is a strong supporter of peaceful uses of nuclear energy. Kazakhstan is the leading producer of uranium in the world and has its own production of nuclear fuel components. The country has research institutions and infrastructure capable of providing scientific and technical support for the nuclear industry,” the President emphasised.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects for nuclear power in the Republic, the use of modern nuclear technologies and the training of local employees.
