Uzbekistan improves its positions in Global Innovation Index

Uzbekistan is in the top three economies for the Central and Southern Asia region and reaches the 82nd position globally.

Uzbekistan ranked 82nd out of 132 countries in the 2022 edition of the Global Innovation Index, the press office of the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan reported.

The Global Innovation Index aims to provide a fair and unbiased assessment of the innovative performance of countries of the world. It comprises 81 indicators and assesses the achievements and indicators of countries at different stages of economic development.

In 2022, Uzbekistan has improved its performance in the GII compared to last year, having moved up 4 places. Now it stands 3rd among the economies in the Central and Southern Asia region, following India and Iran.

Uzbekistan ranks 10th among lower-middle-income countries. Uzbekistan leads in such indicators as institutions, infrastructure, domestic market scale, human capital and research in the list of the Asian countries.

Uzbekistan holds top rankings in such indicators as Graduates in science and engineering (6th), Gross capital formation (6th), Labour productivity growth (7th), Entrepreneurship policies (22nd) and State of cluster development (27th).
