Tokayev orders to diversify Comfortable School National Project

The Government and regional authorities were instructed to take the project under special control.

On September 28, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a regular meeting of the Supreme Council for Reforms. The priority issues under discussion included the dilemma associated with the implementation of the Comfortable School National Project, the press office of Akorda reported.

This ambitious idea aims to provide solutions for the lack of school places. The implementation of this large-scale project contributes to the construction of modern innovative schools with a capacity of up to 800,000 children throughout Kazakhstan. Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov reported on the progress of the implementation of the project.

Commenting on the report, the President emphasised that the problem of three-shift, dilapidated and very old schools has not been solved so far. The President tasked the Government and local government agencies to take the national project under special control. The Accounts Committee was tasked to ensure that each tenge was spent as intended.

Noting that the akims of the regions are personally responsible for fulfilling these tasks, the Kazakh leader ordered that the plots of lands for construction be allocated and necessary infrastructure be built within a month. It was decided to appoint Samruk-Kazyna Construction a unified customer.
