Tajik Foreign Minister raises Afghan issues at UN General Assembly

Mukhriddin raised other important issues at an informal meeting of foreign ministers of the OIC Member States.

On September 22, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin addressed an informal meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly in the United States, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reports.

In his speech, Muhriddin touched upon the pressing issues of Muslim countries, the fight against terrorism and extremism and the current situation in Afghanistan.

The Tajik side noted that the use of the energy, transport and communication potential of the OIC Member States will allow achieving economic growth, prosperity, stability and security in the region.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan participated in the C5+1 Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asian countries and the United States on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly.

Exchanging views on the key issues of the global and regional agenda, including the situation in Afghanistan and other security threats and challenges, the parties emphasised the need to strengthen cooperation among the countries of the region.
