International conference at IIR MFA marks Independence Day

The achievements of Turkmenistan in all economic sectors and its authority in the international arena were presented at the conference.

On September 20, the International Conference “International Economic Cooperation of Turkmenistan: Practices and Development Prospects” took place at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The participants reported on latest achievements of Turkmenistan in all economic sectors and its authority in the international arena, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported to CentralAsia.news.

“This forum aims to give new creative impulses to multifaceted cooperation of Turkmenistan with international economic organisations and financial institutions, and, certainly, to facilitate the expansion of bilateral partnerships,” Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vepa Hajiev said.

The speakers emphasised that in recent years the Government of Turkmenistan has created ample opportunities to promote international cooperation in various economic sectors. It was noted that Turkmenistan has established foreign trade relations with more than 100 countries of the world and close contacts with the International Monetary Fund, WTO, World Bank, EBRD, Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank and other major organisations.

It was emphasised that Turkmenistan has applied to WTO membership and received the accession status. This is a positive factor contributing to the expansion of trade and economic relations of Turkmenistan at the regional and international levels.

As was reported, an exhibition of economic achievements of Turkmenistan started its work in Ashgabat together with the conference.
