Dushanbe denies statements of Secretary-General of Organization of Turkic States

Earlier, Baghdad Amreyev made a statement on the tragic events on the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

On September 20, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan denied the statement of Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States Baghdad Amreyev. Amreyev accused Tajikistan of attacking civilians and civilian infrastructure with heavy weapons in his statement on September 16, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.

The Ministry said Amreyev’s statement is regrettable and impediment to the efforts of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to resolve all bilateral issues by political and diplomatic means.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan also noted that strict adherence to the protocol on the settlement of the situation along the Tajik-Afghan border signed on September 19 will allow resuming negotiations on the entire range of issues on the bilateral agenda.

On September 14-17, the authorities of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan reported that clashes took place “along the entire border”. Both sides accused each other of unleashing the conflict and armed aggression.

Tajikistan reports 41 deaths and Kyrgyzstan reports 59 deaths in the recent clash.
