Kyrgyz government agencies to donate one-day salary to support victims of border clash

Assistance will be provided to residents of Batken Region who were affected in a border clash.

Employees of the Office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic will donate their one-day salary to help residents of Batken Region who were affected in a clash at the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported on September 17.

The staffs of the ministries of Kyrgyzstan will donate their one-day salary as financial assistance to residents of Batken Region.

Other government agencies will donate their one-day salary.

Earlier, the leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Sadyr Japarov Emomali Rahmon met on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Samarkand to discuss the situation on the border.

The parties expressed readiness to resolve the border conflict between the two states through negotiations as soon as possible.

The participants in the SCO Summit said they consider it unacceptable to use weapons on the border and called on the parties to find a compromise.

Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have more than 980 km of common border, of which 520 km are delineated.
