Tokaev proposes transforming SCO into global platform

The President said the SCO is the most successful international organisation in the modern world.

On September 16, the Kazakh leader Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev prosed transforming the organisation into a global economic platform at the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of States in a narrow format. In his speech, the President also focused on taking further steps to promote multifaceted cooperation among the SCO Member States, the press office of Akorda reported by CentralAsia.news.

“The geography of the participants of the SCO process is expanding with every passing year. This is convincing evidence of the high demand for the organisation. In my opinion, the SCO is the most successful international organisation in the modern world,” Tokaev emphasised.

The President said Kazakhstan actively supports the expansion of economic partnerships in various formats within the SCO to ensure a smooth transition to the free movement of goods, capital, services and technologies. In this context, the implementation of large-scale economic projects within the organisation serves as a unique driver of the development of relations on the SCO platform.

“I would like to dwell on the priority vectors of economic cooperation – the transit and transport sector and food and energy security. The adoption of the concept of cooperation among the SCO Member States on the creation of effective economic and transport corridors is a major success in improving logistics interconnection,” the President said.
