Emomali Rahmon visits Eternal City in Samarkand

The leaders of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization planted trees.

On September 15, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the leaders of the SCO Member States planted trees on the first day of the Summit in Samarkand. They visited the Eternal City cultural and ethnographic complex, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.

The leaders of the SCO Member States visited the mediaeval bazaar and the workshops where craftsmen manufacture pottery, silk paper, jewellery and carpets.

The complex houses the Congress international centre for 3,500 visitors, 8 hotels, Eternal City historical and ethnographic park, a lake and tree plantations.

The Eternal City that occupies an area of 120 hectares opened in 2022 to mark the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

As was reported, the SCO Summit started its work in Samarkand on September 15. It brought together the leaders of the SCO member States and the Observer States and other heads of state.

Currently, the SCO, which was formed in 2001, consists of Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, India and Pakistan.
