Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan calls on universities to contribute to national economy

It was noted that the highest number of students come to Kyrgyzstan from India, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

On September 14, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov addressed the World Rectors’ Forum “The Role of Universities in Building the National Innovation Ecosystem”, noting that modern institutions of higher education should not only provide education, but also contribute to the development of the country, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The Prime Minister said the Forum will focus on the most pressing issues related to the development of the global ecosystem, sustainable and inclusive development of the country, digitalisation of state management, green economy development and social, economic and environmental development of the country.

The Prime Minister noted that the role of distance education and hybrid learning is growing today. Borders between universities and countries are vanishing.

He noted that it is now possible to study anywhere in the world using modern digital platforms.

To date, there are 78 institutions of higher education in Kyrgyzstan, where more than 230,000 students study.

The highest number of students come to Kyrgyzstan from India, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
