Tokayev: the regional conflict must only be resolved by peaceful means

The CSTO Members expressed concern about the events on the state border between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

On September 14, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took part in an extraordinary meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council via videoconference. The Kazakh leader voiced his position at the meeting, the press office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The meeting was convened on the initiative of the Republic of Armenia. The leaders of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Russia Vladimir Putin, Prime Ministers of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich and CSTO Deputy Secretary-General Valery Semerikov took part in the meeting.

Nikol Pashinyan briefed the participants on the current situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.

Addressing the high-level participants, the President of Kazakhstan emphasised strict commitment to resolving all controversial issues by political and diplomatic means. The President called on to utilize the full potential to de-escalate the situation, avoid using force and start talks as soon as possible.
