Counsellor of the Embassy of Tajikistan in the United States of America Payrav Amirzoda delivered a congratulatory speech at the solemn conference in honour of the 31st anniversary of state independence of Tajikistan, the Khovar National News Agency reports.
Citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan who study and work in Washington DC and representatives of Tajik communities participated in the conference.
In his speech, Amirzoda highly evaluated the contribution of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to the development and prosperity of the Republic over the years of independence. He emphasised the prestige of his country in the international arena.
On Independence Day of Tajikistan, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said his country intends to expand security cooperation with Tajikistan.
Blinken also noted that the US and Tajikistan have built a strong partnership based on shared goals and cultural ties. He added that though the two countries faced challenges caused by global transformations last year, Washington is committed to supporting the prosperity of Tajikistan.
Independence Day of Tajikistan is celebrated on September 9 to commemorate the adoption of the Resolution On the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan in 1991.
