On September 8, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Union consisting of Chairman Duarte Pacheco and Secretary General Martin Chungong, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The interlocutors noted the positive dynamics of development of Uzbekistan-IPU interaction. Several joint projects were implemented and the international events, including the Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Development in Bukhara, were held in the framework of this partnership. The capital of Uzbekistan is hosting the 14th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament that provides a platform for discussing cooperation on the regional and global scale and support for democratic and socio-economic reforms, including in the gender context.
The representatives of the Inter-Parliamentary Union expressed support for the programmes launched in Uzbekistan to transform the social and economic areas of life of the country.
The interlocutors discussed the further prospects of partnerships in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and Targets, promoting democratic values, youth policy and cooperation with the IPU Centre for Innovation.
