On September 8, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali opened the Istiklol Square and the Istiklol Symbol architectural complex in the capital city to mark the 31st anniversary of state independence, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.
The officials lifted the curtain from the plaque in a solemn atmosphere.
The officials visited the new architectural complex. It houses the Dushanbe History Museum with many interesting exhibits.
These include the symbolic throne of the Samanids, rare ceramics of the pre-Islamic period, Greek jewellery and Soviet historical objects.
The observation deck, located on the 14th floor at a height of 94 metres, is one of the places of attraction of the Istiklol Symbol complex.
The President addressed the guests of the ceremony with a congratulatory speech.
The programme of the anniversary celebrations included the performances of Tajik artist and cultural workers. The ceremony concluded with colourful fireworks.
