Kazakhstan to take measures to prevent military suicide

On the instructions of the Ministry of Defence, a roundtable on these issues with all interested parties will be held soon.

On September 2, Minister of Defence Ruslan Zhaksylykov met with members of the public organisations and chairmen of trade unions to discuss the current situation in the Armed Forces. A representative of the Kazakhstan Union of Parents NGO from Almaty Bagila Baltabayeva put forward a number of proposals to prevent military suicides, the press office of the Ministry reported to CentralAsia.news.

After reviewing the information provided, Zhaksylykov noted that all proposals would be taken into account under the Take Care of Life Programme, developed by the Ministry of Defence to prevent injuries, deaths and suicides among armed forces personnel. He ordered to urgently hold a roundtable on these issues with all interested parties.

The Minister discussed financial assistance for civilian employees with the Chairman of Trade Union of Military Servants Torekhan Yerdenbekov. These include the wage increase and annual wage indexation. Particular attention was paid to raising salaries of the teaching staff of military educational institutions and assigning a qualification category to healthcare specialists.
