The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan outlined the priority positions of the Central Asian state at the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Ashgabat intends to defend them in the specified political season. It was reported by the press office of the MFA of the country.
Turkmenistan considers the creation of dialogue platforms an important component of global peace and security.
The country will propose to the UN to declare 2025 the Year of Peace and Trust, and will also submit a draft resolution on the role of UNRCCA, which will reflect the important events of recent years, to the General Assembly. Turkmenistan will advocate the development of a draft resolution of the UN General Assembly «Dialogue is a guarantee of peace».
Attention will also be paid to the importance of increasing the number of members of the Group of Friends of Neutrality, increasing the role of women parliamentarians. Ashgabat will offer the UN to host an international conference on food security.
The state will continue to comply with the provisions of the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on the supply of energy resources to world markets and to work within the initiative to establish an international expert group on reliable energy transit.
Representatives of Turkmenistan will summarize the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the country, as well as summarize the results of international forums on sustainable transport held in the Central Asian state.
Emphasis will also be placed on holding meetings on the ESCAP resolution on the creation of a special program for the Aral Sea basin, the need to develop a Roadmap to expand the potential of low-carbon energy, and promote the concept of the WHO «One Health» in Central Asia in 2022-2025.
Turkmenistan will focus on ensuring the natural rights of people to life, security, normal nutrition, access to clean water and air, cheap education, and medical services. In addition, Ashgabat plans to increase cooperation with the UN in the humanitarian direction.
