Tokayev confirms full readiness to expand partnerships with Russia

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan emphasised that the specific geopolitical situation suggests the importance of “synchronizing watches”.

On August 19, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a bilateral meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in Sochi. Exchanging views, the interlocutors focused on building up multi-vector cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, the press office of Akorda reported.

The Kazakh leader attached particular importance to the steady and promising enhancement of bilateral cooperation in the current geopolitical situation. Tokayev emphasised that the current specific conditions, fruitful intergovernmental coordination and life dictate new goals that need to be achieved.

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted the positive character of cooperation, adding that the states have the longest common border in the world, which is completely delimited.

“There are no grounds for making “liquid” forecasts about the future of our close cooperation. As the President of Kazakhstan, I am determined to give additional momentum to bilateral cooperation in all areas,” Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said.
