Tajikistan and South Korea strengthen contacts to prevent natural disasters

Representatives of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defence of Tajikistan discussed this issue with their counterparts from South Korea.

On August 15, the representatives of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defence of Tajikistan and a delegation of the Committee on Medical Education and Aid at South Korea’s National Emergency Management Agency held talks in Dushanbe. The parties expressed belief that cooperation would continue to expand, the press office of the Committee reported.

The CoES of Tajikistan was represented by Chairman of the Committee Rustam Nazarzoda. The South Korean delegation was led by Mang-Sub Kim. The talks focused on the state emergency prevention and response system and the activities of the Committee for Emergency Situations of Tajikistan.

The parties positively evaluated the current state of cooperation in disaster risk reduction and highlighted the importance of expanding interstate interaction in this area.

In July last year, South Korea provided humanitarian assistance to the population of Tajikistan affected by natural disasters. Seoul donated blankets and generators to the Central Asian state.
