Tajik judoka Nurali Emomali wins world junior champion title

The judoka won a gold medal in the World Judo Juniors Championships in Ecuador.

A judoka from Tajikistan Nurali Emomali won a gold medal on the first day of the World Judo Juniors Championships, which was held in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The athlete showed the best result in the under 66 kg category, the press office of the National Olympic Committee reported.

On the first day of the tournament, Nurali defeated an Italian judoka Valerio Accogli in the preliminary round. He defeated Maxime Moundanga from France and qualified to the quarterfinals, in which he defeated an opponent from the Republic of Turkey Muhammed Demirel.

The Tajik champion won a victory over a judoka from Moldova Izvoryan Radu in a semi-final and the current champion of Asia Azizbek Artykov (Uzbekistan) in the final.

Four more judokas represented Tajikistan at the World Championships in Ecuador.

This is the second gold medal of the World Junior Championships in the history of Tajik judo. The first gold medal in the under 73 kg category was brought from Morocco in October 2019.
