Bishkek calls on Berlin to simplify visa application process for Kyrgyz citizens

The parties focused on promoting bilateral cooperation in various areas.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic in Berlin Omurbek Tekebaev met with newly appointed Head for South Caucasus and Central Asia Matthias Vollert at the German Federal Foreign Office. The interlocutors discussed the prospects for expanding bilateral contacts in the areas of mutual interest, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

Tekebaev touched upon consular issues and requested that the German side simplify the legalisation process for documents issued by the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as expediate visa appointments of citizens of Kyrgyzstan at the Embassy of Germany. In addition, the German side was requested to simplify visa application process for Kyrgyz citizens.

The Ambassador informed the interlocutor about the initiatives of Kyrgyzstan to declare 2022 as the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development and adopt the concept “Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions” at the United Nations.

In this context, the Ambassador called on the German side to support and take an active part in implementing these initiatives of Kyrgyzstan.
