RK President informed about country’s economic development dynamics

Alikhan Smailov reported that GDP grew by 3.2% for the seven months of the year.

On August 9, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov. The Prime Minister reported on social and economic growth rates in January-July, the press office of Akorda reported.

Alikhan Smailov said GDP grew by 3.2%, commodity production increased by 3.3% and productivity in the service sector grew by 2.4% during the reported period. The Prime Minister specified that the construction, trade, industrial, transport and communications sectors showed excellent results.

The President was informed about the measures taken to curb the spike in food prices. Smailov assured that the Government will continue to implement the plan towards national food self-sufficiency for the period till 2024.

The Prime Minister reported on the measures taken to stop inflation,   demonopolize key sectors of the economy and enhance the transit and transport potential.  He also reported on the geography of investment in the ongoing projects worth about 22.2 trillion tenge.

Commenting on the report, the President instructed not to slow down the pace of large-scale reforms in the country, support domestic businesses and ensure income growth of the population.
