Tajikistan has imported 130 electric vehicles worth $3.4 million

This number of vehicles were bought in the first six months of 2022.

In January-June, 130 electric vehicles were delivered to the Republic of Tajikistan. About $3.4 million worth of vehicles were imported, the press office of the Customs Service of Tajikistan reported.

The first batch of electric vehicles arrived in Tajikistan at the beginning of the year. These vehicles were delivered to Dushanbe at the initiative of the City Administration and Yak Taxi. The Central Asian state received the second batch of 100 electric cars Volkswagen E-Lavida that are charged in 30 minutes.

Vice Mayor Firdavs Saidzoda emphasised that the use of electric vehicles and trolleybuses is not only cost effective, but also environmentally friendly in view of the protection of the environment from exhaust gas emissions.

In March, Yak Taxi announced its plans to create and develop a network of EV charging stations throughout the Republic. Recently, Minister of Transport Azim Ibrahim noted that the Electric Transport Development Programme for 2023-2027 has been developed and will be submitted soon to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration.
