Uzbekistan and Bangladesh agreed to promote partnerships

The delegations of industry ministries and departments of the two states discussed the prospects for promoting economic and humanitarian cooperation.

On July 29, the delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev took part in the 3rd meeting of the Uzbekistan-Bangladesh Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the press office of the Ministry reports.

The Bangladesh delegation was led by Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi. The heads of ministries and departments, organisations and diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan and Bangladesh attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on intensifying trade, economic, industrial and humanitarian cooperation between the states.

The parties agreed to expand exports, hold joint exhibitions and fairs and remove barriers to trade, as well as expediate the signing of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement between the countries.

With the aim to build up industrial cooperation, the parties agreed to activate the Agreement on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments and set up joint ventures that will produce high value products. They also agreed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency of Uzbekistan and the Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries.

The Days of Culture of Uzbekistan in Bangladesh and the Days of Culture of Bangladesh in Uzbekistan will be held during the year. It is planned to promote in the tourism sector.
