On July 27, Chairman the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli (lower house of parliament) of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda met with Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Tajikistan Igor Lyakin-Frolov in Dushanbe, the press office of the Parliament of Tajikistan reported.
The interlocutors considered promoting inter-parliamentary interaction and highlighted the need to strengthen the legal framework in this sphere.
The delegations of the legislatures of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation visit Dushanbe and Moscow on a yearly basis as part of working trips, as well as during the events of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
Lyakin-Frolov noted that Russia has always striven for good relations with Tajikistan, emphasising that Tajikistan is a strategic partner of the Russian Federation.
As was reported, on May 23, Zokirzoda had a telephone conversation with Speaker the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. They discussed the activities of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
