SCO meeting of agriculture ministers

The participants discussed opportunities to build up partnerships in the agro-industrial sector within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

On July 25, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev took part in the 7th Meeting of Agriculture Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the press office of the Ministry reports.

The Ministers of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, China, India and Pakistan and the heads of the SCO and the FAO Subregional Office for Central Asia attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Jamshid Khodjaev highly evaluated the cooperation activities of the SCO Secretariat and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The Minister put forward a number of initiatives aimed at making full use of the existing potential of the agro-industrial sector of the SCO Member States. The proposals include the adoption of advanced technologies and innovations, support of household growth, exchange of experience, professional training and digital transformation. He also called on the SCO Member States to cooperate with the International Agricultural University in Tashkent.

Following the meeting, the participants approved the draft Concept of Interaction between the SCO Member States in smart agriculture and innovations.
