Population of Tajikistan has reached 10 million

A baby born in Dushanbe has brought the number of citizens of the country to this figure.

On July 23, a baby was born in the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, who has brought the population of the Central Asian country to 10 million. In honour of this event, President Emomali Rahmon instructed the Head of the Dushanbe City Administration to provide an apartment to the family, the press office of the Mayor’s Office reports.

The mother of the child is a housewife Makhfirat Shokirova and the father is Faridun Barotov (now he is working abroad). The newborn weighs 3.25 kg, his height is 50 centimetres. The boy’s name is Firdavs.

Head of the Dushanbe City Administration Rustam Emomali signed the Order authorising to provide a three-room apartment in Dushanbe to the family. All necessary household items were provided to the parents of the newborn.

The population census was last conducted in the Republic of Tajikistan 2 years ago. According to census results, 9.661 million people reside in the country, including more than 4.9 million men and 4.76 million women. Experts forecast that the population of the Central Asian country will reach 11 million by 2030.
