Ambassador of Tajikistan in Kuwait Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda and Vice President of Syria Ali Mamlouk held talks in Damascus. The interlocutors discussed cooperation and repatriation issues, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.
They highlighted the importance of building up interstate cooperation in security, paying particular attention to repatriation of citizens of Tajikistan to the homeland from Syrian camps. They discussed the situation in the Middle East.
On the same day, the Ambassador met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria Bashar Jaafari. Discussing the same issues, they highlighted the need to strengthen ties not only to achieve security, but also in other areas of mutual interest to the two countries.
In February 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin announced that the Government of Tajikistan is planning to repatriate 260 Tajik citizens from refugee camps in Syria.
