On July 21, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov took part in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. Addressing the forum, he focused on an unpredictable situation in Afghanistan, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.
He stressed that the difficult situation in the South Asian state has a negative effect on security in Central Asia, noting that the situation in Afghanistan remains uncertain.
Japarov called on the leaders of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to concert effort and help Afghanistan embark on the “rails of peaceful development”.
The Kyrgyz leader noted that Bishkek delivered humanitarian aid to Kabul and Badakhshan last year. He also said Kyrgyzstan continues to cooperate with the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan.
In its report, the United Nations accused the Taliban (an organisation designated as terrorist by the Russian Federation) of committing hundreds of human rights violations, including extrajudicial executions, torture and arbitrary detention since regaining control of Afghanistan in August last year.
