On July 19, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sorena Sattari, who arrived for a working visit in Uzbekistan, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the implementation of joint scientific, technical and innovation projects.
The participants emphasised the intensification of Uzbekistan-Iran trade and economic partnerships. Commodity turnover is growing, and joint ventures have increased in number. trade increased by 73 percent in 2021 and by 22 percent in 2022.
The President and his guest noted the opportunities for conducting joint scientific and applied research, attracting private capital to finance venture initiatives, as well as implementing joint projects in the digital, bio- and nanotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.
The parties agreed to adopt a road map for the implementation of agreements and joint projects, which will be discussed at the upcoming Uzbekistan-Iran innovation forum.
