Turkmenistan starts university enrolment campaign

Hemra Aramedov said that in the new academic year the educational institutions offer 44 new majors.

In an interview to CentralAsia.news, a scientist, and an honored teacher of Turkmenistan Hemra Aramedov told how the students of the Central Asian country go through not an easy time, in particular through university and secondary vocational school enrolment campaigns. He also spoke about innovations in curricula.

New university programs

At present, an enrolment campaign has started in Turkmenistan — admission to higher and secondary vocational schools. In general, in addition to military universities, there are 20 higher schools and 42 secondary vocational-technical schools in the country.

In the upcoming new academic year, the university programs will be changed to be effective. The higher education will get 44 new majors at all stages, including bachelor’s, specialist’s, and master’s programs.

Thus, 15 new areas of training will open at the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi in Turkmenabat. The Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction will get 9 new programs. Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan will get five new educational directions.

Four new majors will appear at the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshigeldy Kakaev, and the same number of programs — at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management and the Turkmen Agricultural Institute will get two new majors.

Also, the Turkmen state university named after Makhtumkuli, and the Turkmen State Institute of Finance will get one new educational specialization.

Exams are closely monitored by the public

In the first ten days of the month, as part of an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a document establishing the rules and procedures for admission to higher and secondary vocational schools in 2022. 

The head of the state focused particular attention on the commitment to high-quality preparation for the enrolment campaign and the responsible approach of all relevant state bodies to the new academic year.

The Turkmen leader set the task of organizing an introductory marathon at a high and completely transparent level. In the framework of these instructions, serious public control is ensured at the higher educational institutions of the country during the period of examinations.

The president noted that the temples of sciences should become a place of attraction for the most talented and hardworking young people who will be responsible for the development of the state and society in the future.
