On July 15, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Uzbekistan for his first state visit, had a meeting at the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the press office of the Senate reported.
A delegation of Uzbek parliamentarians headed by Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva greeted the President of Turkmenistan.
The interlocutors highlighted the importance of fostering the inter-parliamentary dialogue aimed at promoting and enhancing strategic cooperation between the two neighbouring states. The Parliamentary Friendship Groups of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have an important role to play in this process.
The President of Turkmenistan and the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis highly evaluated the outcomes of the first inter-parliamentary forum and the first meeting of the Dialogue of Women of Central Asia and Russia, which were held in Ashgabat in May this year.
The talks focused on promoting Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan cooperation in cultural and humanitarian exchange, the organisation of joint events and the exchange of experience in achieving the national sustainable development goals and objectives. The parties also agreed to continue inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
