Turkmenistan buys equipment for census with support of UNFPA

The State Statistics Committee received 180 computers, powerful servers and storages.

The United Nations Population Fund transferred the first batch of equipment to the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan as part of support for the digital census, which will be held on December 17-27 this year, as reported by the press office of the UNFPA.

The purchase was made at the expense of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Central Asian country. The State Statistics Committee received 180 computers, powerful servers and storage devices for the central database of the agency. The tablets will be supplied to local manufacturers.

As part of the census, citizens will be asked four question blocks. The first one will affect the characteristics of a residential facility, the second one will focus on the access of residents of the state to water, gas, electricity and the Internet. Two other question blocks will be aimed at determining the quantity of population of Turkmenistan and the demographic characteristics of citizens.

Everything will be recorded on the tablet. Encrypted data will be sent to ministries, scientific and business communities, where it will be used for statistical purposes.
